And how do you create systems in your home if you don’t know where to start? This month I will give you a few ideas to help you start to create more functional spaces in your homes. Decluttering holiday decor, intentional gift giving and travel packing tips!ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS CONNECTIONS NEWS, DECEMBER 2018 ISSUE https://issuu.com/ihconnections/docs/december-2018-connections-issaquah-/19 Happy Holidays! This season is one of my favorites. The crisp, fresh air, the joy on people’s faces, and all of the decorations! The different light displays throughout the neighborhood, the tree and Santa’s house in Grand Ridge plaza, and of course the giant tree at Village Green! The Issaquah Highlands transforms into it’s own little winter wonderland every year. And many of us decorate our own homes to get into the holiday spirit as well. While the end result is beautiful and festive, the process can sometimes be a little stressful. Ceramic and glass trees and candy canes, countless light strands and boxes of ornaments, and the different wreaths that grace our front doors. Ten months out of the year, our garages and closets hold onto these seasonal needs. Most of the time, January finds us a bit overwhelmed and they get shoved back in the boxes and bins and forgotten about. Until the next year when you open them up and things are missing, tangled, broken, or not even in working order. Less Stress, More Joy this Holiday SeasonORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS CONNECTIONS, NOVEMBER 2018 ISSUE Over the next few months many of us will be surrounded by friends and family, inviting them into our homes, and tackling big to do lists. The holiday season can fill our souls with so much joy, bringing us together to take part in traditions and celebrate with one another. And while this season can be so magical, it can also be a very trying time for many.
Making a VIP BinderORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS CONNECTIONS, OCTOBER 2018 ISSUE Happy October! Last month we discussed ways to handle the back to school rush. September was also National Preparedness month, and it is true that we never know what to expect. Being prepared and organized takes a lot of stress out of day to day situations, as well as when the unexpected arises. Instead of getting overwhelmed and putting it off “for another day”, just start small. This can bring you to your end goal surprisingly fast. Make a plan. Start small. Baby steps. One space at a time.
Issaquah Highlands Connections, September 2018ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN THE SEPTEMBER 2018 ISSUE OF ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS CONNECTIONS Hello neighbors! This community has given my children and I so much to be thankful for, and from that gratitude comes my new column for Connections. This is one small way I can give back to the neighborhood that has become so dear to us. I hope you will join me each month, as I give a few practical ideas to help tackle all things home organization!
Post #1For the New Year I have set goals for this little business of mine, and this is one of them. I'm embarrassed to say that I have intended to launch this blog for months now! Usually I'm not the procrastinating type......but yet here we are :) I guess I've just been having too much fun organizing, staging (and doing business paperwork!) :) I don't really know where this will take me, so for now I will start by sharing all of my Issaquah Highlands Connections news articles. I have really enjoyed writing for this local newspaper, and am looking forward to the year ahead! It's been an amazing opportunity and I will be eternally grateful for Christy and Nina for seeing something in me that I did not. I have always LOVED writing, but it had been quite some time since I had even tried. And being able to tap into this part of myself again has been such a gift! I will continue to provide home organization tips every month, but I also added a new "Monthly Challenge" feature. I hope it will bring more engagement, and lead to my readers feeling like I am truly invested in them. Because I am! It's a really neat thing to be able to reach so many people, and help them on their journey to curating a more peaceful, joyful and organized home. So there it goes! One thing checked off on this 2019 list of GOALS! Thanks for joining me! ~Johnna |
